About Brooks Wester Middle School

Our building opened in 1986 as Mansfield High School South. After the high school moved to its new Broad Street campus in 2002, the building was renovated that summer and reopened as Brooks Wester Middle School, named for a longtime community supporter. We are home of the Wildcats, and our motto is Inspiring Excellence.

Students study English, math, science and social studies, and they can join band, choir, cheer and the district's middle school athletics. Every Wednesday during advisory, students choose a club that interests them, and our Student Council and National Junior Honor Society give students a chance to lead and serve.

Our counselor's office supports students and families, our PTA is active on campus, and the district offers before and after school care through its Out of School Time programs.

Donna Shepard Leadership Academy

Mansfield, TX Grades K-8
Leadership and character education Public school

Donna Shepard Leadership Academy, formerly Donna Shepard Intermediate School, serves fifth and sixth graders in Mansfield ISD on FM 1187 in Mansfield, Texas. Our school is named for Donna Shepard, who spent 20 years as a Mansfield educator and became principal of Mary Orr Intermediate School in 1993. As a leadership academy, we teach students to lead the CHARGE: character, honor, acceptance, responsibility, generosity and excellence. Our Mustangs wear hunter green and burgundy, and our motto is "Leading the Charge." Fifth and sixth graders follow a seven-period day. Students can join our pep squad of more than 30 cheerleaders and dancers, Fit Club, Running Club, Multi-Cultural Club, and our L.I.T. Club, where Librarians in Training help run the school library. Families come to campus for Math and Science Night, and our family liaison organizes events such as Fathers Read, when dads and father figures greet students at the door, read aloud in classrooms and talk about their careers.
