Overview
Every child can learn, and every child deserves to be taught the way they actually learn. That belief is why Briarwood exists. Here in Houston, we teach students in kindergarten through grade 12 who have diagnosed learning differences such as dyslexia, dysgraphia, and dyscalculia, using a diagnostic-prescriptive approach that meets each student exactly where they are.
Our Lower (K-5), Middle (6-8), and Upper (9-12) Schools build on what students do well while remediating where they struggle. Our teachers are trained in proven dyslexia remediation, with the Wilson Reading System at the foundation, and academic classes stay small at roughly 10 students or fewer. A speech-language pathologist team-teaches alongside our classroom teachers, and our academic levels run from remediation through college prep.
We teach the whole child, with social-emotional learning, executive-function skills, and our T.O.P.S. pragmatic-skills program woven through the early grades. Students learn not just what to learn but how to learn, and graduate as confident, independent self-advocates. Briarwood is ISAS accredited and approved for the Texas Education Freedom Accounts program.
