About Texas Center for Learning Disabilities
The Texas Center for Learning Disabilities (TCLD) is dedicated to advancing the understanding and support of students with learning disabilities, specifically catering to children from kindergarten through grade 12. With a core mission focused on the classification, early intervention, and remediation of learning disabilities, TCLD employs evidence-based methodologies to ensure that each student receives tailored educational strategies that address their unique needs. The center's innovative programs include a new health literacy curriculum designed for middle and high school educators, which emphasizes critical topics like COVID-19, reflecting its commitment to addressing contemporary challenges in education. What sets TCLD apart is its emphasis on research-driven practices and community engagement, bolstered by partnerships with families and educators. The low student-teacher ratio fosters personalized attention, while ongoing research initiatives contribute valuable insights into effective teaching methods for struggling readers. Through these efforts, TCLD not only supports academic achievement but also promotes a deeper understanding of learning disabilities within the broader educational community.
