About Vena Stuart Elementary School

Our school carries the name of Miss Vena Stuart, a lifelong Gallatin educator, and children have learned in this building since at least the mid-1950s, when it served older grades too.

Today about 730 students attend Vena Stuart, from pre-kindergarten through 5th grade, as part of Sumner County Schools. Our student body is diverse, with a significant population of economically disadvantaged students and a growing number of English language learners. We are a Title I school.

For reading and writing we teach the Wit and Wisdom curriculum, which builds knowledge through rich texts and puts real weight on students' writing and speaking. A counseling center and school nurse support students during the day, the PTO is active, and families can apply for free or reduced meals and district bus transportation.
