Acorn School of Charleston
The Acorn School of Charleston is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) school at 2535 Leeds Avenue, inspired by Waldorf education and currently offering a mixed-age kindergarten for children ages three through six. Early childhood days include painting, beeswax modeling, bread baking, songs and games, and plenty of outdoor play. The grades curriculum adds foreign language from first grade, whole body movement, handwork, language arts, drama, science, history, mathematics, and the playing of a recorder, flute, or violin. Enrollment is rolling and new students are accepted throughout the year, starting with an open house or private tour, an application, and a meeting between the family and a teacher.
