About York Academy Regional Charter School
York Academy Regional Charter School is the only school in York County, and one of two in Pennsylvania, authorized to teach the full International Baccalaureate continuum. Students move from the Primary Years Programme in kindergarten through grade 6 to the Middle Years Programme in grades 7 to 10 and the Diploma Programme in grades 11 and 12. We are a tuition-free public charter school of choice in downtown York, with a Lower School and an Upper School for grades 7 to 12.
Spanish starts in kindergarten and becomes a major subject from sixth grade, and we expect students to be bilingual by graduation. Instruction is inquiry-led, and students take part in community service, the arts, athletics, esports, theater, academic competitions and international travel, organized in part through a house system.
Our special populations coordinator leads a team of Lower and Upper School special education teachers and a speech-language pathologist who serve students on IEPs, with a multi-tiered system of supports for all learners. Families also have access to school counseling, a student assistance program, school-based outpatient therapy, nursing services, transportation, and before and after school care.
