About Oregon Child Development Coalition - Woodburn
The Oregon Child Development Coalition (OCDC) is a dedicated non-profit organization established in 1971, committed to nurturing the potential of young children and supporting families across 15 counties in Oregon. Serving over 4,000 children, including those from migrant and seasonal farm worker families, low-income households, and children with disabilities or developmental delays, OCDC focuses on early childhood education as a pathway to lifelong success. With a mission centered on love, care, and education, OCDC offers a range of programs such as Oregon Prenatal to Kindergarten (OPK), Preschool Promise (PSP), and Early Head Start Child Care Partnerships (EHS CCP). These initiatives are designed not only to prepare children for academic achievement but also to foster family engagement and community involvement. What sets OCDC apart is its commitment to inclusivity; classrooms are required to enroll at least 10% of children with identified disabilities, ensuring that all learners receive tailored support from trained specialists. Additionally, the organization emphasizes strong partnerships with local stakeholders, creating a comprehensive support network that addresses the unique challenges faced by families in need. With a focus on responsiveness and cultural inclusivity, OCDC is dedicated to cultivating better learners and citizens within their communities.

French Prairie Middle School
French Prairie Middle School is a traditional sixth through eighth grade school in the Woodburn School District, built on the idea that everybody belongs here. Our academic program covers math, science, language arts, and physical education, and we run a gifted and talented program and an English Language Learners program. Students can use our library and stay for after-school tutorial programs. A middle school continuum of behavior supports guides how we teach expectations and respond to discipline. Outside the classroom, students compete in volleyball, wrestling, soccer, football, basketball, and track and field. We provide guidance counseling, transportation, and food services, and families take part through parent nights, our site council, and volunteer opportunities, with family communication in English and Spanish.
Heritage Elementary School - Woodburn
Most of our students learn in at least two languages every day. Heritage offers K-5 bilingual programs in Russian and English and in Spanish and English, where core content is taught in both languages, plus an English Plus strand with core instruction in English and a world language class in Spanish or Russian. Some students in bilingual classrooms even add a third language. Woodburn voters approved Heritage in 1995, and we opened in 1997 with 490 students. Enrollment now sits near 675 students in kindergarten through 5th grade. Every student also takes music, PE, art, and library and media studies. Fourth graders dissect squid in science, and families join students for painting nights at school.
Valor Middle School
Valor teaches core content in three languages. As a dual-language school, we deliver language arts, social studies, and math in Russian, Spanish, and English, reflecting a student body that is about 74 percent Hispanic and nearly 14 percent ethnically Russian. About 650 students in grades 6 through 8 attend Valor, one of 12 schools in Woodburn School District 103. We are an AVID school with an AVID experience at all three grade levels, plus AVID Excel for English language learners. Our middle school continuum of behavior supports lays out how we approach discipline, and extracurricular programs include track.
