About Pioneer Preschool
Pioneer Pre-school on NE Halsey Street in Portland serves children ages 2 to 5 through a play-based, Montessori-inspired program. Our core curriculum follows the five Montessori learning areas, practical life, sensorial, language arts, mathematics and cultural studies, along with weekly themes, art and music, movement, nature exploration and world cultures. We build an individual plan with each family to support the move to kindergarten.
The classrooms have large windows with natural light and eco-friendly wood toys and furniture, and children play outside on a fenced playground. We serve organic food and milk, and we are certified as an Eco-Conscious Childcare Center by the Children's Environmental Health Network. Oregon's Spark quality rating system has awarded us 5 stars.
We are open 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monthly rates are $930 for the four-day preschool program, $1,580 for extended preschool from 7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., $1,780 for full-day preschool, and $1,980 for toddlers. We take part in Preschool Promise, a free preschool program, and accept Oregon's Employment Related Day Care subsidy, and families in either program skip the $50 registration fee.
