Happy Valley Middle School is home of the Herons, a North Clackamas School District middle school on SE King Road in Happy Valley. Our staff works on each student's academic, social and emotional strengths, with a curriculum built around advanced literacy and numeracy, technology use, and sustainability and conservation, so students arrive at high school ready for advanced and college credit classes. Students identified as Talented and Gifted, as intellectually gifted or academically talented in math or reading, receive differentiated curriculum and instruction matched to their rate and level of learning. The district screens all 2nd graders and honors TAG designations from any Oregon district. Heron Television, our weekly student news show, doubles as a video production class where students learn to film and edit. Student-led clubs with teacher sponsors meet after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and an after-school activity bus is available for registered students. Cross country, track and field, the yearbook and the annual Heron Jog-a-Thon round out student life, and families can apply for a student fee waiver.
