Jewett Elementary School
Jewett Elementary School is the elementary home of Central Point School District 6's Two-Way Spanish Immersion (TWI) program, which the district started in 2013. Each grade from kindergarten through fifth has two TWI classes, and each class is made up of native English speakers and native Spanish speakers in equal numbers. Kindergarten starts at 90 percent Spanish and 10 percent English, shifting 10 percent each year, so students learn to read in Spanish first and then read in English by the end of second grade. Families apply each spring for a lottery, and the program keeps a long wait list. We also have a STEM lab with its own coordinator, Title I-A support, talented and gifted services, English learner support, and special education and Section 504 services through the district's continuum of programs. A student wellness specialist leads our Multi-Tiered System of Supports, and counseling services are available on campus. After school, care is offered through the YMCA, and students can play Jr. Comet Sports, take part in intramurals, or enter the lottery for our winter ski program. District bus routes serve the school.
