Valley View Elementary School - Wadsworth

A carnival, book fairs and an ice cream social are among the ways our parent teacher organization brings Lincoln Elementary families into school life in Wadsworth. These events give children and adults time to connect beyond the classroom, alongside the work students do from kindergarten through fourth grade. Our staff, students, families and community members contribute to children's daily learning. We set clear expectations for academic work and positive interactions, with attention to social and emotional needs as well as school subjects. Providing a safe place to participate matters throughout those early elementary years. The classroom work and the wider school community both support children as they build a foundation for later schooling. In 2019, the Ohio Association of Elementary School Administrators recognized Lincoln as a Hall of Fame School. The recognition reflects that work across our school community. Families can follow classroom and school events through principal updates, our calendar and parent resources, staying involved in their child's academic, social and emotional growth.

Overlook Elementary on Broad Street serves preschool through fourth grade for Wadsworth City Schools, and it is home to the district's Littlest Grizzlies Preschool. That preschool enrolls children ages 3 to 5 who live in the district, in morning or afternoon half-day sessions Monday through Thursday, and it is integrated for children with identified disabilities and typically developing peers. Preschool teachers use the AEPS curriculum, aligned with Ohio's Early Learning and Development Standards, to work on communication, cognitive, motor, adaptive and social skills in large groups, small groups and one on one. In kindergarten through fourth grade, students attend art, gym, library and music as specials, and they follow The Overlook Way: be safe, kind and responsible. We are a Title I school, and the district's Bear Cub Academy at Isham Elementary provides before and after care for grades K to 6.

Project: LEARN of Medina County is dedicated to empowering adults through accessible education and English literacy programs, fostering personal growth and community integration. With a mission to provide high-quality, inclusive instruction in basic literacy, GED preparation, English as a Second Language (ESL), and citizenship, this organization breaks down barriers to learning. The ESOL program focuses on personalized instruction for non-native English speakers, enhancing communication skills and cultural understanding. For those pursuing their GED, tailored support equips learners with the essential knowledge needed to succeed in the exam and further educational or career opportunities. Additionally, one-on-one tutoring offers dedicated assistance to help individuals overcome educational challenges across various subjects. A unique aspect of Project: LEARN is its used bookstore, The BookShelf, which plays a crucial role in funding educational programs through purchases and donations. By fostering strong community partnerships and providing a supportive network, Project: LEARN of Medina County stands out as a vital resource for adults seeking to achieve their full potential in life and work.
