Lawrence School (Grades 7-12)

Lawrence School's Upper School serves students in grades 7 to 12 who are bright, motivated learners with dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, other specific learning disabilities or ADHD. Many arrive with a public school IEP, and a medical diagnosis is not required for admission. For more than 50 years, families have traveled from across Northeast Ohio to join our college-preparatory program.

Our teachers use Orton-Gillingham-based, multisensory instruction and teach material to mastery, breaking complex concepts into manageable steps and adjusting their approach as each student's needs change. Students build organizational strategies, executive function skills and self-advocacy through an advisory program and college and career planning.

The Upper School campus opened in Sagamore Hills in 2007 on 47 acres, with an eight-acre lake and stream that serve as an outdoor science lab. The building includes a gymnasium, two science labs, a fine and performing arts suite, a theater, a weight room and a library, and the grounds have soccer and baseball fields and a cross country course. Most families use the Jon Peterson Special Needs Scholarship, and need-based tuition assistance is also available.
