About Origins Montessori School

Origins Montessori School opened in 2017 to give families in the Research Triangle Park area a Montessori start for children ages 2 to 5. Our founder and head of school trained in Montessori through both AMS and AMI and has more than 15 years in early childhood education.

Children begin in our Toddler Transition Program around age 2, where the focus is independence, language, social skills and self-care, then move up to Children's House. Children's House classrooms are prepared environments with hands-on materials for Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, Math and Cultural Studies. Arts, crafts, foreign languages, music and movement, and yoga are built into the curriculum, and our outdoor learning environment has play structures and a garden.

Families choose five full days (8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.) or five half days (8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.). Families who need a longer day can drop off from 7:30 a.m. and pick up as late as 5:30 p.m. We also offer an afterschool program and a Montessori summer camp in July and August.

For nearly 20 years, Champion Education has taught students in Morrisville, and today it brings Champion Academy, Champion Art School, after-school programs and summer camps together on Pheasant Wood Court. Champion Academy is a Cognia-accredited private school that offers individual high school credit courses, so students in grades 9 to 12 can add a class while staying at their public, private, homeschool or online school. Courses cover English, math, science, social studies, world languages, computer science, art and design, with AP exam preparation, and meet in person, live online or in a hybrid format. Our art school teaches drawing and painting from kindergarten up, and qualified artists can begin high school art credit as early as grade 7, moving into digital design, 3D animation and portfolio courses. For Pre-K through middle school, the after-school program runs until 6:00 p.m. on weekdays, with transportation from selected schools and a six-level Chinese pathway leading toward AP Chinese. Enrichment classes include Singapore math, reading and writing, Python, game design and an FLL robotics competition team for grades 4 to 8.

The center holds a Five Star North Carolina license. Our teachers plan lessons with the Creative Curriculum, which follows 38 objectives aligned with the NC Early Learning Standards and covers STEM, language and literacy, social skills, physical development and the arts. Infants learn baby sign language, preschoolers combine child-chosen activities with small-group instruction, and Kindergarten Prep classes work on math, literacy, writing and science in small groups. Classrooms also use Conscious Discipline to teach problem solving and self-regulation. Parents can check in through live classroom camera feeds and receive daily sheets, photos and milestone updates in the Tadpoles app. Children who graduate from our program receive a check toward a 529 college savings plan.
