Emerson Waldorf School

Binkley Preschool in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, is a nationally celebrated, non-profit play-based inclusive preschool founded in 1965 (celebrating over 60 years of service) on the campus of Binkley Baptist Church. Serving children ages 2 through 5, Binkley is renowned as Chapel Hill's pioneer in early childhood inclusion, seamlessly integrating neurotypical children with peers who have physical, sensory, developmental, and medical exceptionalities. Operating with an intimate 5:1 student-to-teacher ratio, classrooms are led by highly experienced master educators who employ emergent play, sensory ateliers, language modeling, and social-emotional scaffolding. Binkley provides a joyful, barrier-free environment where every child is celebrated and supported.

We offer Spanish immersion and early stimulation for children from six weeks through age five. Children learn through play, music, and physical education while building social, emotional, physical, and cognitive skills. Families can choose full- or part-time care during the week, and we also offer after-school care for school-age children.

Our Chapel Hill preschool and child care program serves children from infancy through age five. As a local, family-owned school, we support children’s cognitive, physical, social, emotional, and creative development while giving them loving, attentive care.
