About The Academy Charter Middle School
Our Uniondale campus grew out of a charter approved by the Charter School Institute in December 2017, and we began teaching scholars here in September 2018. The Academy Charter School network first opened in Hempstead in 2009 and now runs campuses in Hempstead, Uniondale and Wyandanch.
We are a tuition-free public charter middle school, and our work centers on three areas: mastery of academic subjects, intensive character development and a habit of giving back to the community. Our interdisciplinary curriculum uses technology and experiential learning to connect subjects.
Our day is long by design, with breakfast before classes and an after school program once instruction ends. Scholars wear uniforms and can join athletics, career and technical education and performing arts programs.
