River Elementary School

We are Barton Elementary School in the Patchogue-Medford School District. Teachers, staff and families work together on children's academic learning, social development and positive behavior. Our school community includes students with different backgrounds, experiences and perspectives. We emphasize cooperation across the classroom, playground and home, with family partnership supporting each student's learning. Canaan Elementary is one of seven elementary schools in the Patchogue-Medford School District, located on Fry Boulevard in Patchogue. Our building has its own school psychologist, social worker, nurse, and child care office, and families can use the district's before and after care program. Students with disabilities are served through the district's Special Education and Pupil Services office. The Committee on Special Education serves children from 5 to 21, and the Committee on Preschool Special Education serves younger children. Services offered within district schools include speech-language services, occupational and physical therapy, counseling, hearing and vision itinerant services, consultant teacher support, resource room, integrated co-teaching, and special classes, all at no cost to families. The district also runs a dual language program, with seats assigned by lottery.

Emanuel Lutheran School in Patchogue has been faithfully serving families since 1957, providing a nurturing and faith-based educational environment for children aged 18 months to 5 years. With a mission centered on holistic development, the school emphasizes intellectual, spiritual, physical, and social growth. The Emanuel Early Education Center caters specifically to toddlers and preschoolers, offering both full and half-day programs led by New York State licensed teachers who are CPR and First Aid certified. The school prides itself on maintaining a low student-teacher ratio, which allows educators to tailor lessons to meet individual learning styles and needs effectively.
