Merrick, NYGrades K-12 & up to 22$550 per year plus $36 materials fee

SULAM means ladder in Hebrew, and Sulam LI is a Sunday religious school that helps Jewish students and young adults with special needs climb higher in their Jewish learning each year. Classes meet at the Merrick Jewish Centre on Sunday mornings from 10:00 a.m. to noon during the school year. Our special educators teach small classes using a multi-sensory curriculum. Students learn prayer, Hebrew, holidays and Jewish culture, while crafts, cooking and music help each lesson stick. We take part in the PJ Library program, and we welcome students from all Jewish backgrounds. Learning continues after Bar and Bat Mitzvah through a class for young adults. Our program is a collaboration of eight synagogues, including the Merrick Jewish Centre and Temple Israel of Lawrence, working with the NCJW Peninsula Section, with initial funding from the UJA Federation of New York. Annual tuition is $550 plus a $36 materials fee.
