About Grace Day School
Grace Day School Early Childhood Center is a ministry of Grace Episcopal Church in Massapequa, caring for children from six weeks old through Pre-K. We are a member of the National Association of Episcopal Schools and licensed by the New York State Office of Children and Family Services, and families of all faiths are welcome.
Our Two's Club, launched in 2008, builds early language, art and music skills through play, with part-time and full-day classes. Nursery and Pre-K classes use smart boards, American Sign Language, Scholastic Let's Find Out and Fundations phonics, with field trips and guest speakers through the year. The Early Childhood Program runs September through June.
For working parents, Above and Beyond is our full-time program for infants through preschool, open 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. about 50 weeks a year, and our before and after school program offers monthly or hourly plans. Children play daily on our athletic field or in our indoor gym, all staff are CPR/AED certified, and summer camp runs one to six weeks in July and August.

Charles E. Schwarting Elementary School
Charles E. Schwarting Elementary School serves grades K–5 in North Massapequa, near Jerusalem Avenue and Flower Road. Students work on academic skills while practicing the school's L.E.A.D. values: Loyalty, Empathy, Accountability and Determination. In 2026, Schwarting earned both New York State and National School of Character recognition. Its character work gives students a shared language for daily choices and relationships. The school marks milestones such as fifth-grade moving-up and connects children with older adults through Bristal Buddies activities. Principal Jennifer Thearle leads the campus, where the school day runs from 8:52 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. For 2026–27, district Pre-K classes are housed at other campuses because Schwarting's rooms are needed for its K–5 enrollment.
Nassau County Police Activity League Special Needs Unit
Nassau County PAL’s Special Needs Unit is part of a youth recreation organization that brings young people and police officers together through positive community activities. Across Nassau County, PAL operates 31 units in more than 40 communities and serves about 20,000 young people each year. The PAL welcomes boys and girls of all backgrounds, regardless of race, religion, income, or disability. Its activities include arts and crafts, basketball, bowling, fitness boot camp, flag football, golf, lacrosse, martial arts, recreation programs, track, and youth yoga. Activities are organized by sport, and families can register for an activity online; members receive email updates when new sports open for registration. Nassau County PAL is based at 167 South Broadway in Hicksville, New York. Funds raised by the organization stay in the local community, and its operating support comes from donors rather than municipal funding. The PAL’s guiding purpose is to build positive connections between youth and police officers in a caring, compassionate, and enjoyable setting.
