About Winston Preparatory School- Long Island
Our Winston Preparatory School Long Island campus in Dix Hills serves students through grade 12 with learning differences such as dyslexia, nonverbal learning disabilities and executive functioning difficulties associated with ADHD. We plan instruction around each learner and refine it as their skills develop.
Every student receives 45 minutes of one-to-one Focus instruction each day, targeting the areas where they need the most support. Focus teachers coordinate with other teachers and send weekly family updates. The Long Island campus opened in 2018, with a program that combines academic skill remediation and development of independent learning skills.

Alternatives for Children provides education and care from infancy through preschool across Long Island. Board of Cooperative Educational Services: Wilson Tech's Central Campus
At Wilson Tech's Dix Hills campus on Westminster Avenue, high school juniors and seniors spend half of each school day learning a trade and the other half at their home high school, with buses carrying them between the two. Wilson Tech is the career and technical education division of Western Suffolk BOCES and serves students from the 18 component districts in the Babylon, Smithtown and Huntington townships. Secondary programs at Dix Hills start with construction careers, which include architectural and interior design/CAD, carpentry, construction electricity, HVAC and plumbing, and welding. Students can also choose audio production, entertainment production, fashion design technology, medical assisting, nurse assisting, physical therapy aide and professional health careers, business and hospitality management, criminal justice, cosmetology, culinary arts, auto body repair, automotive technology, and electronics, robotics and automation. The campus also houses the Center for Alternative Education, a Diversified Cooperative Education Program and the Adult Education office, which offers ESL, high school completion and continuing education classes. High school students register for our programs through the school counselor at their home district.
James E Allen Junior Senior High School
Ages 12 to 21, students at James E. Allen Jr./Sr. High School receive intensive support alongside academic instruction. Western Suffolk BOCES combines life-skills development with vocational and community-based training, then adds related services to support each student’s program.
