The Waldorf School of St. Louis

Webster Groves, MO Grades PreK-5
Waldorf education Outdoor play and gardening Handwork

Children at The Waldorf School of St. Louis bake bread, tend gardens of vegetables and fruit trees, and build forts in our meadow as part of the school day. For more than 30 years, we have offered Waldorf education in Webster Groves, from parent-child classes for families with babies and toddlers through early childhood and the early grades. Our Early Childhood program serves children ages 3 to 6 in classrooms furnished with natural materials such as wood blocks, shells, beeswax and handmade dolls. Counting games, cooking and table setting lay the groundwork for math and science. In the Lower School, grades 1 to 3, the same teacher stays with a class across these years. First graders learn letters and phonics through storytelling, drawing, watercolor and beeswax modeling, learn world languages orally through songs and games, and begin handwork with finger knitting before moving on to knitting and crochet. Preschool and Pre-K families can choose three-day mornings or full days, and kindergarten offers five-day options. Before care is free, aftercare runs until 5:30 p.m., and we accept tuition assistance applications.
