REACH Academy is a Federal Setting 4 special education program of Mounds View Public Schools, located on Lexington Avenue in Shoreview. We provide educational and emotional services for district students in grades 8 to 11 whose IEP teams place them in a separate setting. Our classes hold 7 to 9 students. The day runs on a homeroom and six periods, with students passing from class to class on schedules built around their individual academic needs and the graduation requirements of their home school. Course offerings include English, science, math, basic skills remediation, social studies, art, physical education, technology, health, and career and technical education, along with transition skills training and community participation that use hands-on, real-world activities. Our team includes licensed special education teachers, a vocational coordinator, a therapist, paraprofessionals who support classroom management and social growth, and a school resource officer.
