Best Special Needs Schools in Amesbury, Massachusetts (2026)

Amesbury Montessori is a small traditional Montessori school set among the sugar maples of the historic Friends Meeting House in Amesbury. We sit next to Amesbury Town Park, which gives children a ready place for nature discoveries and art inspiration, and our own large outdoor area has room to play, garden and explore. Children ages 3 to 6 learn with the materials Dr. Montessori designed, in classroom areas for practical life, sensorial work, math, language and handwriting, culture (science and geography) and art. During a long, uninterrupted work period, children choose their own work while teachers give lessons or step back and observe. Peace education, community and connection with nature run through our curriculum. Families choose four or five days a week, half or full day. The half-day program runs from 8:15 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and the full day runs until 3:00 p.m. with extended outdoor time, lunch and rest. In summer we offer a program with arts and crafts, gardening, outdoor play, nature walks, picnic lunches and trips to the splash pad.
