Glen Burnie High School

Glen Burnie High School opened in 1923 with a freshman and sophomore class borrowing rooms in an elementary school, and our Old Main building on Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard has been in use since 1932. For years we served the entire northern end of Anne Arundel County, and today the Gophers are part of Anne Arundel County Public Schools.

Since 2011 we have hosted the Biomedical and Allied Health Magnet, which draws students from 12 feeder high schools across the county. Magnet students take courses such as Principles of Biomedical Science, Human Body Systems and Medical Intervention, weighted like AP classes, plus job shadowing and internships with healthcare professionals.

Our Public Service Signature Program pairs coursework with field experiences in public service, including criminal justice college courses and a certificate option. We also offer AVID, service learning, clubs, athletics and a library media center, and our counseling office supports scheduling, scholarships, financial aid and college planning through Naviance.
