Bel Air High School, home of the Bobcats, is a public high school in Bel Air, Maryland, located on Heighe Street and serving grades 9 through 12. As a comprehensive public school, it educates a wide range of students from across the community. Bridges Montessori School runs a year-round Montessori program for children from 6 weeks through 12 years of age at its Bel Air North campus, a three-acre rural lot at 2529 Conowingo Road in Harford County with outdoor play space, a nature trail, bird houses, children's gardens, and chickens. The school is licensed by the Maryland State Department of Education (Non-Public School Division) and the Office of Child Care, participates in the Maryland EXCELS quality program, and holds Montessori Schools of Maryland validation for its 3-to-12-year programs (its birth-to-3 offerings are described as Montessori-based care). It is also affiliated with the American Montessori Society and the National Center for Montessori in the Public Sector. The former Towson campus closed on August 15, 2025, and that location's families are now served in Bel Air, with round-trip bus transportation available from the Providence Road Park and Ride in Baltimore County. Programs are organized by age: Infant (6 weeks and up), Toddler (18 months to 2 years), Transitional (2 to 3 years), Preschool and Kindergarten (3 to 6 years), and Lower and Upper Elementary (6 to 12 years). Both 9-month and 12-month tracks are offered depending on the program, along with part-time and full-time schedules. The Montessori approach here follows Maria Montessori's "sensitive periods" model, where teachers are trained to recognize developmental windows and guide each child individually rather than relying on rote memorization. This individualized, mixed-age structure tends to suit children with language-based learning disabilities and twice-exceptional learners, who benefit from being met at their own pace. Before-care (7:00 to 8:30 a.m.) and aftercare are available across programs and are designed to keep transitions within a single familiar environment. Introductory Parent and Child classes let families try a Montessori classroom before enrolling. The school welcomes families of all faiths and holds no religious affiliation, and all teachers and assistants are certified. On tuition, full-time infant and toddler programs run $22,700 per year, the 12-month full-time Preschool/Kindergarten program is $19,500 per year, and 9-month Elementary tuition is $15,500 per year, with before-care, aftercare, and bus add-ons priced separately. Sixth grade is tuition-free for students enrolled since grade 1 or earlier.
