Best Special Needs Schools in Gorham, Maine (2026)

Handwriting Without Tears and Everyday Math form part of our pre-K curriculum at Roselyn North Academy's West Gorham location. Older preschool children also work on early reading and writing, science, social studies and creative arts. We follow the Maine Early Learning Guidelines and use developmental observations to guide age-appropriate learning experiences. Children from infancy through pre-K join different programs. In the nursery, attentive care and play-based learning guide our work with infants. Toddlers explore language, art, mathematics and sensory activities within a consistent daily routine; preschoolers use themed units and small-group lessons. Our accessible center has outdoor space and two playgrounds. We give children room to learn through play and use Brightwheel to keep families connected with their child's day. A tour begins the admissions process. We consider age, readiness and available places when deciding classroom placement, then provide a classroom welcome packet. A suggested playdate visit helps children and parents prepare for the transition. Our pre-K teachers also use small-group and one-to-one mathematics and literacy lessons, with rotating classroom centers that develop literacy and numeracy skills. They observe children's development and use those observations to guide learning experiences.
