Iowa Connections Academy

Iowa Connections Academy is a tuition-free online public school for students in kindergarten through grade 12 anywhere in Iowa, with our school office in Anita. Iowa funds us the same way it funds brick-and-mortar public schools, so families pay only for school supplies, optional field trips, and in some cases a computer and internet connection.

Our teachers hold state certification, specialize in online instruction, and combine live, teacher-led lessons with self-guided work that lets students move ahead when ready. A parent or other caregiver serves as each child's Learning Coach, and in the younger grades about 70 percent of the school day is spent working offline. We offer gifted and honors courses, AP classes, dual enrollment, ACT and SAT prep for high school credit, and special education services for students with IEPs.

Students connect through clubs such as eSports, student council, and Dungeons & Dragons, along with National Honor Society chapters and field trips around the state. Graduates walk at an in-person ceremony in Des Moines, where we also hold prom, and students can join local district sports, band, or theatre with district approval.
