Frances Slocum Elementary School is a Title I elementary school in Marion Community Schools, located on South Torrence Street and proud home of the Giants. Families who live in other Marion elementary attendance areas can request a transfer to attend. Our clubs give students hands-on ways to try new things. Second through fourth graders design, build and program robots on our VEX Robotics competition team, and our Unified Robotics team brings students of all abilities together to compete in First Lego League and the Special Olympics Unified Champions Robotics Tournament as part of the district Champions Together program. Fourth graders who love to sing rehearse for the Circle the State With Song regional festival, and every class performs in our fall music shows. Marion Giants Youth Sports offers football, cheerleading and basketball. Bus transportation is available to every student living within district boundaries, and the YMCA provides latchkey before and after school care plus holiday childcare. We host family nights through the year, and a Second Harvest food distribution comes to our school monthly.
