About The Crossing
The Crossing has helped Indiana students who struggle in traditional school settings find another path since 2003. At its Indiana campuses, students combine academic coursework with job training and faith-based character education. Hands-on work experiences help them explore careers and practice workplace skills, while teachers support progress toward school goals. The program also helps students strengthen soft skills they can use in work, school, and daily life. An average teacher-to-student ratio of 1:10 gives staff more opportunity to work individually with students. The Crossing offers an optional daily faith session and works with students and families to identify a campus that fits their needs. Its approach gives teens a fresh start through academics, practical learning, and personal support. Students build confidence and develop habits that support future success as they pursue their individual goals. The Crossing operates campuses throughout Indiana, so families can connect with a location that works for them.

Paramount Lafayette
Paramount Lafayette is a tuition-free public charter school at 1904 Elmwood Avenue in Lafayette. The campus serves kindergarten through grade 8. It is not a private special-education school, and no voucher is required for a seat. The campus belongs to Paramount Schools of Excellence, which opened its first Indianapolis campus in 2010. Lafayette uses Indiana academic standards with a structured academic approach. A high-ability program offers deeper enrichment. Student and parent services include support for IEP and multilingual learners. Before- and after-school care is offered at select Paramount campuses. Enrollment is by application when a seat is open. The school is a general-population charter, not a therapeutic campus.
School Alive
School Alive is a Christian microschool in Greater Lafayette serving pre-kindergarten through 12th grade, with no more than 10 students in each traditional grade. Students learn in seven levels, each pairing two grades, from Level 1 (pre-K and kindergarten) through Level 7 (grades 11 and 12). Our Authentic HAMSTER Education framework covers seven disciplines: Healthcare, Art, Mathematics, Science, Technology, Engineering and Religion. Each quarter, full-time students take one course in each discipline plus a personal Passion course, then present their work at Passion Shows. The year follows a 180-day calendar on an A/B block schedule, and each day opens and closes with a schoolwide United period. We received Indiana State Board accreditation approval in May 2025. Homeschool families can enroll half-time or in single courses as space allows. Activities come through partners and student interest, from tennis, soccer and archery to choir, chess, robotics and 4-H. Full-time tuition for 2026-27 is $7,500, and we file Indiana Choice Scholarship applications for eligible families.
STEAM Academy
STEAM Lafayette was the first STEAM Academy site, opening in 2017 with six classrooms beside the River City Community Center on Old US 231 and adding 11 more classrooms in 2019. Our rooms run from infants at 6 weeks up to pre-K, the building is open 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. each weekday, and we add summer camp and break care. Inside, children have an indoor PlayPlace with a toddler area, an indoor play space for rainy and cold days, a science lab and a rock climbing wall. Our faith-based STEAM curriculum blends science, technology, engineering, art and math with age-appropriate Bible lessons and follows the Indiana Early Learning Standards for kindergarten readiness. Staff-to-child ratios run from 1:4 for infants to 1:12 in pre-K, and an onsite mental health consultant supports children and staff. Breakfast, lunch and a snack in the afternoon all meet CACFP guidelines. STEAM Academy is a registered childcare ministry of River City Church and a Paths to Quality Level 3 provider, and we accept CCDF vouchers and On My Way Pre-K. Optional activities such as GymBus Gymnastics and SoccerShots are available for an added fee.
