Brownsburg Early Childhood Center is the public preschool of Brownsburg Community School Corporation, serving children from age 3 with early intervention and special education services alongside fee-based general education preschool places. Its commitment is hands-on, engaging learning experiences that lay the best possible foundation for the whole child. Classrooms are built around how much support a child needs. A standard special-education classroom holds up to 18 children with one licensed teacher and one support staff member, while an intensive classroom holds up to 10 with one licensed teacher and one or two support staff. Children with IEPs can also be served in a general education setting. Speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and school therapist services are integrated into the program, and walk-in services are available. Lessons follow the Indiana Early Learning Foundation Standards, supplemented by Handwriting Without Tears for literacy, Everyday Math, and the We Thinkers social-emotional curriculum. Morning sessions run 8:45 to 11:30 and afternoon sessions 12:55 to 3:40 on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, with shortened hours on Wednesday. Children can start the week of their third birthday. The special education evaluation is free under Article 7, and bus transportation is covered for the days specified in a child's IEP.
