College Internship Program - CIP Bloomington

CIP Bloomington is a post-secondary transition program in Bloomington, Indiana for young adults ages 18 to 26 who are on the autism spectrum or have ADHD, dyslexia, nonverbal learning disorder, or other learning differences. It is not a K-12 school. Students live in program apartments while building the skills to manage college, work, and independent life.

The College Internship Program was founded in 1984 by Dr. Michael McManmon to help young people on the autism spectrum make the transition from adolescence to young adulthood, and the Bloomington center has run for 18 years. Students are assessed into a Core or Plus level of support and work with an interdisciplinary team on social skills, executive functioning, academic support, career development, and life skills, at a 1:2 staff-to-student ratio across a 43-week calendar.

Students on the college track enroll at Indiana University Bloomington or Ivy Tech Community College with coaching, enrollment help, and accommodations support, and the center is within walking distance of Indiana University. Students on the career track build real internship and job experience instead. Graduates who meet certain benchmarks can move into the Graduate Living Community, a lower-cost, longer-term option that keeps key supports in place while they live independently.
