About Early Childhood & Family Center
Quincy's Early Childhood & Family Center brings Head Start, Pre-K for All, Early Childhood Special Education, and Transitional Kindergarten together at its South 8th Street campus. Children learn through play and hands-on activities that build language, problem-solving, social skills, and readiness for kindergarten.
The Early Childhood Special Education program serves eligible children ages 3–5 with instruction planned through each child's IEP. Depending on individual needs, support can include speech and language, occupational or physical therapy, vision or hearing services, and help with developmental delays. Families of district children ages 3–5 can request DIAL-3 screening, which looks at communication, thinking, social development, and fine and gross motor skills. Each program has its own enrollment criteria and availability; families can contact the center to discuss a screening or placement.

Quincy Area Vocational Technical Center
Quincy Area Vocational Technical Center has brought practical career education to the Quincy area since 1973. High school students from member districts and adult learners use the center to develop skills for work, further training or a change of career. High school students generally arrange enrollment through their home-school guidance counselor; adults can ask the center about its courses and Shared Training Program. Hands-on courses span agriculture, automotive technology, business, child care, culinary arts, construction, diesel equipment, electronics and robotics, graphic communications, health occupations, engineering and welding. Students learn in trade shops, a commercial kitchen and a health-occupations simulation lab. Those spaces connect classwork with the equipment and routines of the fields students hope to enter. QAVTC also operates a vocational preschool at the Baldwin Drive site for children ages three and four. Its high school child-care students gain direct experience alongside the preschoolers, linking another training pathway to daily practice. The preschool has its own program contact; families interested in that placement can ask the center for details. Visit 219 Baldwin Drive, Quincy, IL 62301.
