About Coram Deo Classical School
Coram Deo Classical School teaches students from junior kindergarten into the high school grades on Salem Road in Mt. Vernon, using the classical trivium. Children in junior kindergarten through 2nd grade build a strong phonics foundation, students in grades 3 to 6 work in the grammar stage of memorizing facts, and 7th and 8th graders move into logic, learning to reason and tell fact from fallacy, with Scripture as the measure of truth.
Junior kindergarten is a two-day preschool, full days on Tuesdays and Thursdays, for children who turn 4 before November 1. Our kindergartners learn correct pencil grip and phonics, keep a copybook of Scripture and poetry, and each week study a composer and an artist before making art in that style and singing in choir.
After school, a supervised program runs every school day until 5:15 p.m. for $5 per child, capped at $10 per family. Families with two or three students receive tuition discounts of 15 or 30 percent, and limited scholarships may be available.
