About Meehan Elementary School
Meehan Elementary in Belvidere serves kindergarten through fifth grade for District 100, and our dual language students learn literacy in both Spanish and English. Spanish language arts uses Benchmark Adelante, Estrellita phonics and other Spanish literacy resources, alongside Benchmark Advance for English language arts.
Students spend at least 60 minutes on math every day using enVision Mathematics, the same program the district uses through Algebra 2. Science comes from the Discovery Education Science Techbook and Mystery Science, and social and emotional learning is part of the K-5 curriculum.
For working families, before and after care is available through the Belvidere Family YMCA, with First Student buses transporting Meehan students, and through the Belvidere Park District. In summer, Meehan serves as a site for free breakfast and lunch for children up to age 18.
