Pregnant parents and families with children from infancy through age four can begin with our enrollment team at Friends of Children and Families. We review eligibility information, explain the documents families need and walk through the enrollment steps. Income, homelessness, public assistance and foster care are among the circumstances we consider. Head Start and Early Head Start provide the early childhood programs behind that process, supported by federal Head Start funding, meal reimbursements and supplemental grants. We work in classrooms and homes across Ada and Elmore Counties in Idaho, including Boise, Star, Meridian, Eagle, Kuna, Garden City, Mountain Home and Glenns Ferry. Our early learning work prepares children for school while supporting the adults who care for them. Parents participate as their child's first educators and advocates, and they can take a role in our organization's governance. We also work with school districts, volunteers and community partners. Family participation shapes the local program: parents bring their experience into decisions about services as well as into their child's learning. Our enrollment specialists set up appointments and explain the paperwork families need after reviewing eligibility information. Families can start that process with a pre-application.
