Georgia Academy for the Blind is at 2895 Vineville Avenue in Macon. Founded in 1852, it is the state-operated school for students who are blind or visually impaired, including students who have additional disabilities. The campus offers both day and weekday residential programs. Outreach and professional development are available to families and districts across the state. The academy is accredited by SACS and Cognia. Local districts provide daily buses for day students and Sunday-to-Friday transportation for residential students. Dorms are separated by gender and have adult supervision after school and overnight. Placement is an IEP decision.

We are a private Montessori school in Macon for children from 18 months through eighth grade. Our multi-age classrooms use hands-on materials, with children exploring interests and practicing independence within a structured environment. Learning includes foreign language, yoga, cooking, gardening and peace education. Our 9.3-acre campus is surrounded by woods and streams that students explore in play and study. The school year follows four nine-week sessions with scheduled breaks. Camps are offered during many of those breaks for families who need continued care.
