About Tapestry Public Charter School
Tapestry Public Charter School opened in DeKalb County in 2014 so that neurotypical students and students on the autism spectrum could learn together in grades 6 to 12. About half of our students have learning differences, and every core class is co-taught by a general education teacher and a special education teacher, with an 11:1 student to teacher ratio. Our DeKalb campus is on Raymond Drive in Doraville.
Middle schoolers join a House built around an interest such as agriculture and science, engineering, computer science, theater or art. Teachers use Universal Design for Learning and unit maps so students move at their own pace, with daily WIN (What I Need) time for extra help or acceleration. High schoolers choose pathways in game design, engineering drafting, fine arts or world language, take AP U.S. History and AP Statistics, and join academies in ecology, band, Spanish, art or drama. Every senior completes an internship.
Our arts partners include the Alliance Theatre, the High Museum, the Atlanta Symphony and SENSE Theatre at Vanderbilt. The DeKalb County School District authorizes the campus, and students who live in the district are admitted by open lottery.
