About The Lionheart School

Three families, an educator and a therapist founded The Lionheart School in September 2000, starting in a small cottage on the grounds of Alpharetta Presbyterian Church. In 2010 we moved into a building designed for the children we serve: students ages 5 to 21 who need support with relating, communicating, abstract thinking and problem-solving. We accept students diagnosed with autism, nonverbal learning disability, ADHD, sensory integration disorder and other neurodevelopmental diagnoses who are ready to work in small groups without one-on-one support.

Our program is grounded in the DIR/Floortime model. Master's-level certified special education teachers work alongside speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists and reading specialists on staff, and instruction draws on Orton-Gillingham, Lindamood-Bell, Social Thinking and Handwriting Without Tears. Every classroom has a Promethean ActivPanel, and the school day includes art, music, drama, yoga, kitchen science and affinity-based clubs. An occupational therapist certified in hippotherapy works with students at nearby Lioncrest Farms.

Students help tend Lionheart Gardens, our organic farm, and older students in HeartReach gain pre-vocational experience at The Cottage. Tuition for 2026-27 is $33,000, and we accept Georgia SB10 and GOAL scholarships.
