About Shorashim Academy
Shorashim Academy is a Zionist Orthodox Jewish day school for kindergarten through grade 8, built for families coming from public schools who want strong general studies alongside Hebrew, Israel and Jewish learning. Our classes are small, and our new 44,000-square-foot building sits on the Soref JCC campus in Plantation, with indoor and outdoor space and green fields for play.
General studies follow Florida's B.E.S.T. standards, using Go Math, Fundations for reading in kindergarten and first grade, and Wonders from second grade up. Students take NWEA MAP tests three times a year so teachers can track growth. Israeli educators teach Hebrew every day through songs, games and conversation, with Tal-Am and Chalav U'Devash materials, and Judaic studies cover tefillah, Chumash, Parsha, halacha, Shabbat and the holidays. We mark Yom Ha'Zikaron, Yom Ha'Atzmaut and Yom Yerushalayim as a school.
Our classrooms use Responsive Classroom practices, and every student learns our three Pocket Principles: be safe, respectful and responsible. Bus routes reach Hollywood, Hallandale, Cooper City, Boca Raton and Coral Springs. Applications carry no fee, and Step Up For Students scholarship dollars apply here, as do grants for Jewish students leaving public school.

A World of Discovery Academy
A World of Discovery Academy is a family-owned bilingual early learning school in Plantation, where children start as young as 3 months and stay through VPK. Our owner and director has worked in early childhood education for more than 30 years, moving from assistant teacher to head teacher, director and now owner. Se habla español. Children are grouped by age: Voyagers (3 to 12 months), Explorers (12 to 24 months), Adventurers (twos), Imagineers (threes) and Expeditioners, our state-approved VPK class for 4- and 5-year-olds. We teach with The Creative Curriculum, influenced by the Reggio Emilia philosophy, and add bilingual academics, character development and mindfulness. Toddler days balance quiet activities with music, movement and outdoor climbing and running. Our campus near I-595 and University Drive has large, bright classrooms, three outdoor playgrounds and a security guard on the premises. Doors open year-round at 6:30 a.m. on weekdays, pickup runs until 6:00 p.m., and we run an on-site summer camp for ages 1 to 10. Optional extracurriculars include music and movement, soccer, gymnastics, art, coding and robotics.
