Sunrise School of Ormond Beach
Sunrise School of Ormond Beach is a Waldorf-inspired hybrid school for homeschooling families, with classes for kindergarten through grade 6 on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Our campus sits on 8 wooded acres at EarthPerks Bio-Organic Farm, where children learn in an outdoor forest school setting, with yurts and indoor-outdoor spaces for focused lessons. The campus is technology-free. Our mixed-age Elderflower Kindergarten keeps a preferred ratio of 8 children to 1 adult and centers on circle time, puppetry, watercolor painting, beeswax modeling, gardening and long stretches of outdoor play. In the grades, formal academics begin gently in Grade One through story, movement and manipulatives, using the Earth Schooling curriculum with Waldorf methods, and each class has a teacher and an assistant. Weekly classes include gardening, herbalism, baking, knitting, crochet and handwork, and eurythmy is part of the curriculum. Our somatic practitioner builds movement and sensory work into the day and offers one-on-one sessions. We are a Direct Pay Provider for the PEP and FES-UA scholarships. Families with babies and toddlers can join Honeysuckle Garden, a Friday parent-and-child class, and we run summer sessions for ages 4 to 11.
