Shalom Montessori School
Shalom Montessori School is a Jewish Montessori school on Prairie Avenue in Miami Beach, serving babies as young as 6 weeks up to 6-year-olds, with flexible drop-off and pick-up times. Our mission joins Montessori learning with a love of Torah, and both Judaic and secular studies use hands-on sensorial materials. Toddlers from 18 months learn by doing in classrooms where every experience is hands-on, and they do not need to be toilet trained to start. In our Primary classrooms for ages 2.5 to 6, trained Montessori teachers present lessons and children choose their own work: practical life tasks like pouring, spooning and scrubbing, then math, language, music, geography, science, botany, zoology, art and culture. Children who turn 5 by September 1 are considered for our kindergarten year. Summer camp keeps toddler and primary classrooms open, with daily playground time. Our program is not designed for children who need specialized care, though children with mild exceptionalities are considered when no program changes are required, sometimes with a family-funded shadow.
