About The Riviera Ridge School
Our school began in 1938 as Marymount School, and since 1942 it has occupied a former estate on Santa Barbara's Riviera. Today The Riviera Ridge School is a co-ed independent day school for Junior Kindergarten (ages 3 and 4) through 8th grade, on 11.5 acres with a swimming pool, athletic courts and fields, gardens and a Center for Creative Design and Engineering.
Kaleidoscope, our signature program developed with the UC Santa Barbara Religious Studies Department, studies world religions and cultures from the early grades through 8th grade Comparative Religions. ExSEL and Yale's RULER framework guide social-emotional learning. Teachers use differentiated instruction and MAP data, and for students with learning differences we work with families on strategies and self-advocacy. Middle schoolers follow an accelerated math pathway, take STEAM electives and a weekly executive functioning seminar, and can apply for before-school Honors courses capped at 12 students.
Team athletics start in 4th grade, students perform in musicals and Spring Sing, and SEEK study tours run from Catalina Island to Costa Rica. Tuition for 2026-27 is $38,300 for K-5 and $42,500 for grades 6-8, and we award about $1 million in need-based aid each year.
