About Tara Hills - San Pablo
Tara Hills is a nonpublic school certified by the California Department of Education and located in San Pablo. It provides academic instruction and therapeutic services to students with autism, emotional behavioral challenges, other health impairments, speech and language needs, and severe learning disabilities.
The school serves students from kindergarten through grade 12 who require more intensive behavioral and academic support than available in their public school. Instruction occurs at each student's instructional level with SRA interventions for those below grade level. A schoolwide positive reinforcement program includes a point and level system, applied behavior analysis, behavior intervention plans, and daily communication with families via point sheets.
Students are referred and placed by public school districts. The goal is to help each student meet behavior and academic goals and transition back to a less restrictive environment when ready. It operates as a stand-alone NPS with day enrollment.
