About Joshua Cowell School
Joshua Cowell Elementary School is a Manteca Unified school, home of the Cougars, serving students through 8th grade.
We work to give English learners and students with disabilities strong access to the core curriculum, and teachers collaborate closely in Professional Learning Communities. Families and teachers meet for goal-setting conferences, we celebrate students who reach English proficiency, and multilingual learners get targeted English Language Development instruction.
Our GECAC program offers a Before School Program and the After School Advantage Program, with TEACH tutoring three afternoons a week. Families stay involved through the Cougar Community Club, book fairs, the yearbook, and an 8th grade parent night.

Calla High School
Calla High School is a continuation high school in Manteca Unified, built for students who need a different path to a diploma. Continuation schools offer flexible scheduling, individualized instruction and close support, and in 2025 the California Department of Education named Calla a Model Continuation High School for its personalized approach. We are a small campus with a staff of about two dozen, including secondary teachers, a resource specialist for students with IEPs and a bilingual paraprofessional. Our school counselor provides individual short-term counseling, crisis and group counseling, and restorative conflict resolution, and refers families to outside resources when needed. Counseling also covers college and career planning: FAFSA help, scholarships, work permits for students with part-time jobs, and planning for what comes after graduation. Students can play co-ed volleyball, flag football and basketball, and bus service is available.
