About Gould Educational Center - Madera

Gould Educational Center is a public special education school operated by the Madera County Superintendent of Schools. It serves students with the most significant disabilities, including those who are medically fragile, who cannot access educational benefit on an integrated site. The school provides instruction focused on functional life and pre-academic skills based on alternate curriculum standards.

Students range in age from three to twenty-two years and attend in self-contained classroom settings. Related services such as speech/language therapy, occupational therapy, adapted physical education, orientation and mobility, behavior intervention, deaf/hard of hearing services, and services for the visually impaired are available as determined by the IEP process. Placement occurs through the IEP process by districts within the Madera-Mariposa SELPA.

The campus is a secure environment with staff trained in CPI, CPR, and universal precautions. Transportation is coordinated from the site for students in programs operated by MCSOS.
