About Fairgrove Academy

Fairgrove Academy opened in 1997 and serves kindergarten through 8th grade in the Hacienda La Puente Unified School District. Our 28 certificated teachers deliver the district-adopted curriculum in language arts, math, science, social studies, and physical education, with technology built into every subject.

The arts are a big part of the day here. Every student receives art instruction, and our enrichment program can include dance, drama, instrumental and vocal music, media arts, and visual arts. Students can join our band, show choir, or FATV student media program, and our athletics teams compete in basketball, cross country, football, soccer, softball, and volleyball.

We are a Title I school and part of the district's Community Schools effort, and parents are welcome at Coffee with the Principal. We also offer a summer program.

Play-based learning Kindergarten readiness Public school

Hacienda La Puente Unified School District's Child Development and Early Primary Programs have provided early childhood education in La Puente, Valinda, and Hacienda Heights since 1973, with a focus on getting 3 and 4 year olds ready for kindergarten. We run two publicly funded programs. Federally funded Head Start offers half-day and full-day classes for qualifying families at sites including Baldwin, Del Valle, Kwis, Nelson, Valinda, and Workman. The California State Preschool Program, funded by the California Department of Education, is a three-hour program in morning and afternoon sessions at sites such as Bixby, California, Del Valle, Kwis, and Palm, with enrollment based on family income guidelines. Our curriculum rests on learning by doing: children use real materials like blocks to explore size, shape, and color and to test their ideas, with play as the foundation for later academic learning. Teachers assess each child with the Desired Results Developmental Profile, and a Parent Advisory Committee meets five times a year.
