About Success Learning Center (SLC) - Hawthorne
Success Learning Center (SLC) is a specialized educational program within the Southwest SELPA operated by Wiseburn Unified School District. It provides a safe, supportive environment for students in grades 6-12 who may require a more restrictive setting or intensive service needs due to unique social-emotional challenges.
The program emphasizes individualized education plans developed in collaboration with families, small class sizes, regular access to mental health professionals for counseling, life skills training in communication and self-advocacy, and positive behavior supports. SLC works closely with families to build student confidence, self-awareness, and resilience.
Associated FUTURES Plus offers an adult transition program for students ages 18-22 with more significant needs, focusing on vocational training, independent living skills, and community-based learning. Enrollment and placement occur through district or SELPA processes for eligible students with IEPs.
