MERIT Academy is a public special education school operated by the Grossmont Union High School District. It provides a self-contained special day program at a separate campus for students in grades 9-12 who require a high degree of social, emotional, and behavioral support and structure. The program integrates academic and therapeutic supports in a collaborative environment to help students develop emotionally and scholastically toward self-reliance and successful transition into adulthood. Students are placed by school districts. School hours are Monday-Thursday 8:30 a.m. to 3:24 p.m. and Fridays 8:30 a.m. to 1:45 p.m. The school opened in September 2013 and remains active with current enrollment data reported for the 2025-26 school year.
