West Memphis, ARGrades K-12$8,500 (K-6) / $9,700 (7-12) per year

West Memphis Christian School opened in 1970 with a daycare and kindergarten class of 50 students at the Missouri Street Church of Christ, then added a grade each year until our first senior class graduated in 1978. More than 800 students have graduated since. Today kindergarten through 12th grade share one campus at 1101 North Missouri Street: grades 7 to 12 moved into the building in 2006, grades 4 to 6 followed in 2015, and K to 3 joined in 2018. We are a non-denominational, coeducational Christian school accredited by the Arkansas Nonpublic Schools Accrediting Association, the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools and the National Christian School Association. Bible-based teaching runs through every subject, and small classes keep teachers closely connected with each student. An indoor sportsplex and football field were added in 2015, and our teams compete in football, basketball, baseball, softball, volleyball, cross country, track, tennis, golf and cheer. For 2026-27, tuition is $8,500 for kindergarten through 6th grade and $9,700 for grades 7 to 12, payable yearly, quarterly or monthly. Comparing school options in West Memphis

West Memphis School District provides special education to students with disabilities ages 3 to 21 and commits to locating, identifying, and evaluating students with exceptionalities. From three to five, the local early childhood special education program evaluates and serves eligible children, through either the school district or an area education cooperative. Services can happen at an Arkansas Better Chance program, Head Start, a licensed child care center, or another place where your child spends the day.

Frequently Asked Questions About Special Needs Schools in West Memphis

How quickly must the district act on a referral in Arkansas?
Within 21 days of receiving a referral, the district must hold a referral conference with the required team members and follow all related timelines. Arkansas guidance says a district may not delay a referral received in the summer because staff are unavailable. Date your written referral and keep a copy. Our guide on how to request a special education evaluation shows what to include.
Who evaluates a child in a private preschool or private school?
Preschool-age children are referred to their district of residence, or to the education cooperative that provides early childhood services for it, even if the private preschool is somewhere else. For school-age children enrolled by parents in a private school, Child Find belongs to the district where the private school is located. Ask that district for its referral process.
Does my child need a diagnosis before I refer?
No. Arkansas says any person who knows a child and suspects a developmental delay can make a referral for special education. A delay is suspected when a child is not meeting typical developmental milestones, and the state points families to milestone tools such as the CDC Milestone Tracker. Our early intervention guide lists common signs by age.
Who can I call if I cannot find the right preschool contact?
The Arkansas Division of Elementary and Secondary Education's Early Childhood Special Education program takes questions about the right contact for your area at (501) 682-4221. The state also keeps a contact list of local early childhood special education programs. For West Memphis students ages 3 and up, you can also reach the district's special education department directly.
