The Arkansas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired operates an elementary program for students who are blind or visually impaired. The program serves PreK through grade 6 and is part of the statewide public education system under the Arkansas Department of Education. Students are referred by their local public school districts. The school implements IEPs and provides specialized instruction including braille, orientation and mobility, and expanded core curriculum skills alongside standard academics. Day and residential options are available. Services include speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and assistive technology as needed to support each student's educational program.

The Arkansas School for the Deaf and Blind (ARDB) operates the Deaf Department on its Little Rock campus. It provides specialized education for students who are Deaf or hard of hearing, serving children and young adults ages 3 through 21. The school offers academic instruction from preschool through grade 12 along with post-secondary transition services focused on career and college readiness. ARDB emphasizes language access, communication, and individualized support through American Sign Language, assistive technology, and related services. Families or districts may inquire about placement, which involves tours, assessments, and IEP meetings. Residential options are available in addition to day enrollment. The school is tuition-free for eligible Arkansas students and operates as part of the Arkansas Department of Education. It merged with the former School for the Blind in 2025.
