Pathfinder, Inc. opened in 1971 as a licensed preschool for children with developmental disabilities, starting with six students. Our Colleen Black Preschool at 2400 West Main Street in Jacksonville carries on that work for young children with developmental delays and special needs. Each child's abilities are evaluated first, and our team then builds an individualized program of early intervention and specialized education. Licensed special educators and trained educational assistants work alongside licensed physical, occupational and speech therapists, and licensed nursing staff are on site during school hours. We keep student-to-staff ratios low and offer free developmental screenings. Two signature programs set the preschool apart: Music Together, which brings music education into the week, and an Outdoor Classroom that connects children with nature. Meals follow a USDA-approved menu, and Pathfinder's lift-equipped fleet provides door-to-door transportation to and from the preschool. The program runs weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Pathfinder is accredited by CARF and licensed by the Arkansas Department of Human Services.
